Privacy Policy
Last updated: [Placeholder Date]
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Verse collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. We designed Verse to be straightforward: we only collect what we need to run the platform and match musicians with collaborators.
Information we collect
We collect information in a few different ways, described in the sections below. In short: what you give us when you sign up, what you upload while using Verse, and a small amount of technical information collected automatically.
1.1 Account information
- Your email address and password (stored in hashed form).
- Your account type (musician or admin) and role settings.
- Verification signals, such as whether your email has been confirmed.
1.2 Profile information
- Your artist or band name, city, bio, genres, and roles you play.
- Whether you are an individual or a band, and any collaborators listed.
- Links you choose to add (for example, to your social profiles or streaming pages).
- Any images or avatars you upload.
1.3 Uploaded content
Music, demos, lyrics, recordings, works in progress, and any other files or notes you upload as part of your portfolio or a collaboration.
1.4 Messages and interactions
Messages you send to other users, feedback you share, and interactions with matches — including whether both sides agreed to reveal contact information.
1.5 Payment information
If you subscribe to a Pro plan, our payment processor collects your payment details. Verse only stores limited billing metadata (such as plan, status, and invoice history); we do not store your card number.
1.6 Technical information
- IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, and language settings.
- Log data such as timestamps, pages visited, and actions taken on Verse.
- Cookies and similar technologies (see our Cookie Policy).
How we use your information
- To create and operate your account and profile.
- To let you upload, store, and share music with matched collaborators.
- To power human matchmaking — our team reviews profiles and suggests collaborators.
- To reveal contact information only when both parties have agreed to a match.
- To send transactional emails (verification, security alerts, match notifications).
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- To keep Verse safe — detecting abuse, spam, fraud, and violations of our policies.
- To measure, understand, and improve how the service works.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Data retention
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards, so we can meet our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where we are required to retain it.
Security
We use a combination of technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, and monitoring. No online service is 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password and let us know immediately if you suspect any unauthorised activity on your account.
Third-party services
Verse relies on trusted third parties for hosting, email, analytics, and payments. These providers only process your data on our instructions and under written agreements that require appropriate safeguards. If you follow links from Verse to external websites, those sites have their own privacy policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent for processing based on consent. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, your rights are set out in the GDPR (or UK GDPR) and equivalent laws.
- Access and portability: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: update or fix inaccurate information directly in your profile or by contacting us.
- Deletion: close your account at any time from your profile, or ask us to delete specific data.
- Objection and restriction: ask us to stop or limit certain uses of your data.
- Complaint: lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
International data transfers
Verse operates primarily from Barcelona, and some of our providers are located outside the European Economic Area. When we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on legally recognised safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, to make sure your data remains protected.
Children’s privacy
Verse is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you before they take effect. The date at the top of the page tells you when it was last updated.
